Antimicrobial Coating
Carbis Features
Safety and reliability are two of our target goals at Carbis Solutions and we are excited to introduce PPG SilverSan™ anti-microbial powder-coating to our coating process.
The anti-microbial-protected powder is treated with silver* ionic technology which is specially formulated to allow the coating to slowly release silver ions, providing an invisible layer of protection from microbial growth.
Why is this important? Microbes are small living cells that can only be seen through a microscope. They include bacteria, fungi, and algae. Microbes can create bio-film on surfaces and degrade or corrode metal substrates.
Features and Benefits
-
Inhibition of microbes growth remain constant even if the surface has been subjected to wear and exterior exposure
-
Possess high temperature stability (tested up to 100°C)
-
Excellent color retention
-
Fully reclaimable
-
Displays exceptional exterior durability in addition to its resistance to microorganisms on the coated surface
-
Can be formulated to many colors in all PPG resin chemistries
PPG SilverSan™ antimicrobial powder-coating is now the standard for our top handrails for all Carbis gangways.
*Silver is a registered pesticide with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which states that “pesticides are used to prevent, destroy, repel or mitigate any pest ranging from insects and animals and weeds to microorganisms such as fungi, bacteria and viruses.”
Antimicrobial is limited to the treated surface. The use of these products does not protect users of any treated surface against food-borne or disease-causing bacteria, viruses, germs, or other organisms. This process inhibits microbe growth and protects the painted surface, increasing product longevity.
